Nature and art are my stimulus and the motivation for what I create and who I am today" - Nancy Tschetner"

Over the last 18 years, Nancy Tschetner has developed an eccentric style and presentation of art. The majority of her artwork is created solely with the pure and natural shades of New Zealand sand. Nancy paints with adhesive and uses over 60 different shades and structures of sand. "Gradually, each grain becomes part of a larger image represented in my artwork. I liken this to us, when we come together, the strength we can achieve and the visions that can be created," says Nancy.

Nancy constantly pushes her boundaries to create the perfect illusion of natural materials and their three dimensional depth and textures. With the colour variations of the the sand, she can capture the distinctive attribute of that special being and the fleeting magic of a certain place or treasured memory. She believes the sparkly texture of the sand can bring any subject to life. Some of Nancy's pieces incorporate mixed media, like crushed glass and gold leaf to highlight certain details and colours not available through sand alone.

Her main subject matter is nature. Nancy says, "I like to remind people of the importance of our relationship to Mother Nature and our roots. It is those valuable connections that enrich our lives. Creating nature with nature is what I do. Spending time outside in nature is good for body, mind and soul. Through my artwork I want to bring some of the outside in."
