We're pleased to welcome sculptural artist Devon Thicket to Athol Gallery.

Thicket emigrated to NZ fifteen years ago from the UK where he had spent several years as a stonemason restoring listed buildings, churches and cathedrals. During that restoration work he became involved in blacksmithing for bespoke fixtures which led him into sculptural metal work.

Thicket uses traditional forging techniques along with modern technologies, such as plasma cutting and welding, to create his pieces. Each piece is unique and often incorporates found objects such as horseshoes and vehicle bonnets.
