Christina Roach

Born in 1961, in Tauranga, New Zealand, Christina Roach currently enjoys painting and exhibiting from her Gallery/Studio in Arrowtown and on occasion in independent galleries. She moved to Arrowtown from Tauranga with her family in 2003 and since then a 1860’s original stone cottage on her property has been her workspace.
Christina has always had a passion to paint from as young an age as she can remember, but it wasn’t until her late twenties that she had the good fortune to be tutored in oil painting by a successful German artist (since passed away). She was able to watch and paint alongside him, part-time over several years. All she learned stayed with her and Christina has now built on that to form her own style.
" Though I currently work in Acrylic on canvas, over the years I have completed works in pastel, watercolour and oils. Since living in Arrowtown I have had an obsession ( a healthy one I hope, think???) with the mountains, old buildings and tussocks…this still continues, however since buying a retreat in western southland right on the coast . I won’t be surprised if I start painting coastal scenes again.
When asked to describe my painting style, I feel it is along the lines of “Contemporary Realism”, for now anyway, however it is always evolving…as it should.
I consider living and working in South Island to be an Artists dream. Not only do I get to meet people from all over the world, but I am surrounded everyday by the most breathtaking scenery .
My art works have been sold to private collections in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, England, USA, France, Belgium, South Africa, Canada, Spain, Scotland, Hong Kong and China.
I hope you enjoy viewing my latest paintings, I love painting them!"
