Bernadette Parsons

After many years of enjoying her role as a practice nurse, Bernadette now works to explore the medium she loves, watercolour. She loves what watercolour can do as the pigment mixes and moves with the water on heavy cotton paper. She finds that working together with the medium produces unique ethereal happenings, even of the humble subjects found in our landscape.

Bernadette lives in North Waikato but travels regularly to paint, finding the scope for painting plein air to be enormous. She believes that plein air gives one an emotional connection with their subject and that this is, hopefully, what becomes obvious in her paintings.

Bernadette has had success in winning many awards around New Zealand, the most recent being The Supreme Award at the NZ Watercolour Exhibition 2022. She sells work both in New Zealand and internationally and is excited at the thought of where she can take this medium in unique and exciting ways.
